In 1983, we were opened as "coal museum" in ruins of the Mitsui Tagawa mining industry place Ita well and changed "coal, history Museum" and name with museum registration in 2006. Other than "Sakubei Yamamoto collection" registered with the UNESCO world memory inheritance (world memory) for the first time in Japan, we display coal and history folk material.
We are opened as Chikuho district's first public art museum in 1991. We introduce art of native district widely and leave open to citizen as multipurpose artwork and place of exchange.
Private compound culture facility "Ike no okuen" which we established as citizen's oasis in former Mitsui Mining cement ruins. We were opened as the central facility in April, 2008.
Private contemporary art work display gallery which opened in 2005. We display in Tagawa and Fukuoka mainly on artist work with connection.
