The Hiroyuki Itsuki "gate of youth"

"The gate of youth" where it is said that, at first, we read this to know Chikuho. It is large full-length novel that won the tenth (1976) "Eiji Yoshikawa literary prize" almost lifework of writer, Hiroyuki Itsuki. "Chikuho edition" "independence" "roam" "corruption" "nostalgia" "comeback" and work such as big river spreading out begin from symbol of Chikuho, description of Mt. Kawara.

Writer, Hiroyuki Itsuki was born in Yame-shi on September 30, 1932 and went over to Korea after the life soon. In 1947, we left the Korean Peninsula in Hakata and it was Itsuki who came back to village Chikugo, Yame of mother again, but had days that 15 years old boy who held young brother and sister in coolly postwar confusion was engaged earnestly in hometown that should be warm to live.

It was time when it set foot in Chikuho by peddling of tea for the junior high school era that he saw Mt. Kawara for the first time. He talks about surprise and impression at that time in this way. "It was strongly pulled so as not to be able to explain by words well. We let you feel foreign country in Japan to be intuitively. Figure of mountain with atmosphere unlike modest scenery of Japan reminded of the Korean mountains and rivers where I was brought up incidentally." (Kawara-machi, local history "tile")

Scenery, that of Korean village which revived suddenly across space-time must have been magnetic force that land called Chikuho who was able to feel only to him who was repatriate again had. "I described their land where I should live in, hometown of Delaware Sine in desperate thought while running at full speed in darkness. And it was image of coal mining region as desolateness of Chikuho then to have appeared through darkness in the depths of my head. We did not have land, and, as place that three brothers who did not own anything else which you should lose ousted from land either lived in, there was Chikuho at bottom of my mind." ("Japan drifting")

It is repeated, and described Mt. Kawara, Shinsuke Ibuki are not Itsuki, but, the town of Tagawa where main character, Shinsuke Ibuki spent one-year term for childhood, it may be also said that it is obviously original scenery for Chikuho so as to be obstinate.

Ashihei Hino "river which burns"

Writer, Ashihei Hino was born in Wakamatsu as the eldest son of Class coal relation person Tamai on January 25, 1907. We advance to the Waseda University Department of English literature and want to be literature, but leave school in midcourse to inherit business. From 1929 to 12 years, we put the body in coarse heaver society by danger as boss of Class Tamai.

"We are troubled for trouble to live without brother losing one noble mind in tactics and power and feeling and life that anfractuosity did very with wild and rough heaver and a series of life licentious at a glance."

One paragraph of letter that we wrote this to younger brother, Masao Tamai at time when he worked as boss of heaver. It seems that we are open-hearted at a glance (gohorairaku) and, in fact, can ask about one side of delicate Ashihei Hino.

We win the Akutagawa Prize in "funnyotan" (feces and urine sputum) in 1938. Afterwards, Kyushu represented by soldier trilogy including "wheat and soldier" and "flower and dragon" leaves many masterpieces of the stage. Ties with Tagawa are strong, too and interchange with Mr. chief priest Yokoyama group of tokushoji (Banden-cho) familiarly. Hino wrote a song of school song of Nishitagawa High School.

Ougai Mori "song diary"

In 1899, Ougai Mori arrived at Ogura as the twelfth division army surgeon manager and lived in Kokura by 1902.

It is about 1901 that we visited Tagawa. We leave Kokura for hygiene corps practice on July 3 and write this phrase near Chuai tunnel. We wrote the world of monochrome called march in the rain, state that green of young leave rose especially vividly in that. In "Kokura diary" which Ougai wrote down the Kokura working era as for Tagawa visit of this occasion "stay at thes of Tagawa coal mine shaft Mitsui club Yamada certain person at night. Mitsui has many mine shafts if they hear theory of Yamada, and all Tagawa is inclined shafts. (omission) let miner cost watches of the night charges every 12:00. One husband has for digging 78 hours, and tanichiton is spelled with advantageous beshitoifu.

Ougai is announcement in Kokura criticism and "he does own way wealth person tarashimeba which had just taken up the new post, and is famous in newspaper (existing Nishi Nippon Shimbun News Paper Co., Ltd.) for Fukuoka days of September 16, 1899 of Kyushu". Ougai admonishes that we waste money which coal upstarts at the time earned only on food and drink in this and advises on what we use for art upbringing.

Poet Tekkan Yosano, Mr. and Mrs. Akiko travel in Kyushu over 1917 and twice of seven years.

In the first year, Tekkan and others stay overnight at Hiroshi Kobayashi's house who was chief of Ita well at the time of visit after experiencing Wakamatsu, Fukuoka in Tagawa and, on June 21, go down by information for him in mine shaft. It was chance, and it realized visit, this of the rare experience deattarou pit that Kobayashi got Tekkan and favor that rode on on the way of going abroad, the by chance same ship for coal mine shaft technology research of Europe in 1911.

State of the pit where appearance and water of Itamachi that was ghost town drip at the time of by thank-you letter which we put on Mrs. Kobayashi is really spelled in stroke of the pen that seems to be poet by Akiko Gojitsu.
